The Clinical Examination is the final stage of the assessment process and is arranged following successful completion of the Written Examination.
The aim of the Clinical Examination is to assess the candidate's demonstrated competence to practice as a safe and effective physiotherapist in Australia.
The Clinical Examination stage can only be completed in Australia and is arranged on request.
The Clinical Examination comprises three components:
- musculoskeletal physiotherapy
- neurological physiotherapy
- cardiorespiratory physiotherapy
Six areas of the candidate's performance are assessed for each component of the Clinical Examination:
- Patient assessment
- Interpretation of assessment findings and formulation of a physiotherapy diagnosis
- Development of an intervention plan for the individual patient
- Implementation of the intervention plan
- Communication
- Oral questioning by the examiners
The standards applied in the Clinical Examination correspond to the expectations of entry level physiotherapists in Australia as described in the Australian Standards for Physiotherapy
