The Written Assessment is a multiple choice question examination. The multiple choice questions are designed to assess a candidate's ability to apply their knowledge of physiotherapy practice to specific patient scenarios. This is the second part of the Assessment Process and aims to assess a candidate's current suitability to practice physiotherapy independently in Australia.
Details of the potential content of the written assessment for 2010 sessions are available here.
The content and format of the Written Assessment highlights issues related to first practitioner contact, responsibility for decisions regarding patient care and clinical reasoning required for present day clinical practice in Australia. The patient scenarios (case studies) in the Written Assessment are related to the key areas of physiotherapy practice in Australia - musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiorespiratory physiotherapy.
The Written Assessment is conducted in Australia and overseas - details of venues are in the information booklet HERE.
The standards applied for the written examination correspond to the expectations of entry level physiotherapists in Australia as described in the Australian Standards for Physiotherapy.
