From 1 July 2010, the assessment of an individual's qualifications and experience to qualify for Limited Registration in the Public Interst for a specific position of employment is performed by the Australian Physiotherapy Council under the National Health Practitioner Regulation Act 2009.

From 1 July 2010, a physiotherapist who has been offer a job and is seeking to qualify for Limited Registration in the Public Interest must complete and submit an Application for Assessment of the Qualifications and Experience of an Individual Physiotherapist Seeking to Apply to the Physiotherapy Board of Australia for Limited Registration in the Public Interest and include all documentation specified in the application form. The form and documents are used to determine whether the individual's qualifications and experience are suitable for the specific dates, location and scope of practice of the position.
