ASSESSMENT OF OVERSEAS QUALIFIED PHYSIOTHERAPISTS SEEKING GENERAL REGISTRATION IN AUSTRALIA

From 1 July 2010, the assessment of the knowledge, clinical skills and professional attributes of overseas qualified physiotherapists seeking general registration to practise as a physiotherapist in Australia is performed by the Australian Physiotherapy Council under the National Health Practitioner Regulation Act 2009.

This website is being updated to reflect the new responsibilities.

From 1 July 2010, a physiotherapist who does not hold a qualification that is approved by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia must complete and submit an Application for Initial Assessment for Physiotherapists Seeking General Registration and include all documentation specified in the application form. The form and documents are used to determine whether the applicant's qualification meets the Initial Assessment criteria and whether the applicant is required to undertake the Written Assessment and Clinical Assessment.

More information is available in the first part of the Application Form available HERE.

The Australian Physiotherapy Council English Language Requirement has not changed - details are available HERE

As notified on this website in April 2010, a new fee schedule applies to all applications received after 1 July 2010 -  Click here for the current schedule of assessment fees.
